Well, I think it’s becoming pretty obvious that I’ve run out of steam. I’m no longer interested in working on Pompeii. That being the case, I still want to release the map, and have already decided to hand it over to a mod team for inclusion in their own mod after they finish the regular-renegade version. They need to finish some things with their mod first, before they can work on Pompeii.

I can’t even give a near-ETA at this point, but I’m hoping it’ll be done in less than 2 months. Regardless, the regular-renegade version WILL be open-source, but I’m hoping to have a complete version of the map be open-source rather than the almost-finished version I’ve been sitting on for the past couple of months.

As you may know, CnC Unleashed once was a pretty large Command and Conquer site, with somewhat active forums, lots of staffers, and tons of files. We had a couple million hits over the years that the site was running, and went through a lot of site revisions and various internal problems. Unfortunately, we eventually found ourselves with a shortage of staff members, and the site slowly collapsed.

We had hoped to start the site up again, but we just didn’t have the time to work fulltime on the site, and thus we have pretty much all of the infrastructure up for the site but no staff to work on it. I’ve posted an announcement on the Unleashed network hub site detailing it.

I’ve made a small update to the site. You can now post comments for regular pages, and I’ve also updated the single-post news pages so they include the entire site layout, for easier navigation.

Just want to make a quick post about Pompeii. Due to the things I need to fix, the map probably won’t be released until march or so (maybe even mid march).
